The Day Today

Title: The Day Today

Artist: tellyeaters

Release Date: 22/5/2026

Sheffield/Leeds-based post-punkers tellyeaters return with ‘The Day Today’ – the first track from their new EP “The Future is Still 3D” – beginning with a tirade about graphic design on litter bins before widening its aperture and observing ructions in the cosmos. Jackson (lead guitar) has more pedals, they’ve pulled a whole new band member (Oscar) and the five of them are ready to lay down some belters.

Named after Chris Morris’s fake news show from the 90s, ‘The Day Today’ embodies cynicism around change – change in political climate, change in art trends and change in friendships. Naylor’s new thick and slimy bass tone carries this momentum thanks to Evan J Martin – Leeds producer and crucial pillar of the emerging DIY Scene with Private Regcords – whom they spent a week recording the EP with at Unknown.

As their fourth official release since forming in 2024, the group project their changing minds and bodies onto their sound. The lyric “there’s been a shift in star signs” echoes hope and discomfort, while the fizzling cathedral of guitars parades through the turbulence of our time.
