The important information:

Joined by Newly Unwed and Mannequins, we are finalising the summer's antics with a rip slash of disgusting music.
Venue:
Network, Sheffield
Date:
Friday, 29th August 2025
Schedule:
We'll get into that.
*disclaimer: The ticket site is a bit funny and it suggests you need to buy a ticket for each band. This is not true. They do this so they know which band has sold the most tickets. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Subsequently, we recommend you select tellyeaters ;)

Mannequins

First going on will be the brand new Mannequins. They describe themselves as 'punky feminist shite'. Well, what more could we ask for? Let them take the stage.

Newly Unwed

Then, we have our friendly neighbours Newly Unwed. Having seen them and followed them for a while, I would class them as the most vibrant and pleasant culmination of styles - musical, cabaret, ballad with strong punk-rock conviction. If you fancy checking them out, click here.

Now what's with the stud muffin look? Give us a smile won'tcha? That's better! To close the show, our own tellyeaters are getting up once more to dance and burn down the house. If you're lucky, there might be more t-shirts to get your fingers on.

Alright, we've waited for it. Explain the poster.

Right, so it's obviously pixel art. But I chose the 'ZX Spectrum' as the computer to base the graphical limitations off because I'm obsessed with the art made for Spectrum games. I have this book of art for loads of games, and this guy Ste Pickford goes on about how he hates pixel art, as its often pastel colours are arbitrary and gross him out.

"It's a weird nostalgia for a graphic style that never existed."

The spectrum ran 16x32 characters (8x8 squares) which could each only contain 2 colours. Anyway, even though I didn't paint it pixel by pixel (except the telly character and some text) I thought it'd be a fun graphic style to bring to a gig poster and, in my opinion, corresponds to the atmosphere of the venue and the supporting bands.

Tramlines overall was a fantastic weekend. So much to pack into a tiny little three day window. Pulp are clearly due their praise for an unmatched homecoming show, but as someone who attended both the commercial festival and the fringe, the fringe is a clear winner for its spirit.

Mary St Live

We had no idea what to expect from Mary St Live, but we were so pleasantly surprised. The whole event was fuelled by community; my mum volunteered to be on the bar. They seriously put on a great event and we enjoyed the whole thing. As well as our set, in the early afternoon Nancy Mitchell sang with our guitarist Jackson McSweeney and lifted us away. There was stuff going on in the evening too which we had less to do with, but some of us still managed to go and had a walloping time.

NETWORK

We had a funny time doing network on the Sunday as when we arrived at the venue, it had been double booked and in fact wrestling was taking place that same day. However, this meant that we could do our very first open air performance. The turnout was sweet and we are very grateful for all who came and those who put us on.

Das Chip Shop - Fringe review

Jackson McSweeney

Me and a few friends were sat on a bench looking through the tramlines programme and a name caught our eye... 'DAS CHIP SHOP' hmmm what could this be? The description reads: 'Jibber Jabber Meow Meow' . We decided we MUST see this band.

After a series of strange adventures we arrive back at Mary Street just in time to catch Das Chip Shop. The vibe at Mary Street is immaculate with a strong smell of community and excitement in the air with of course a tinge of sweat.

Das Chip Shop walk out on stage and begin playing. The Frontman had incredible stage presence constantly moving and clearly having the time of his life. It was infectious and the crowd could not HELP but join in on the antics and get a groove on.
A stand out track was 'Meow Meow' a single they have released on bandcamp. This is exactly what we were expecting and it is fucking incredible. Hard Core riffage from the bass and guitar with mega blast beats mixed with Meowing, woofing and an amazing voice.

To wrap the evening off we catch the band after the set to give our praise for their incredible set and head off to the petrol station nearby to load up on midnight scran while we wait for our friends to finish clubbing.

Here's to many more

It would be impossible to cover everything that occured last weekend. There are so many amazing people and things out there, and we hope everyone made their own memories.
